Advocacy, Information and Referrals
The Elizabeth Stone House emphasizes self-evaluation, setting goals, and working toward them. Every person who comes to live at the Elizabeth Stone House is assigned a staff advocate when they arrive, and all community adults who participate in our programs are eligible for advocacy services. The advocates provide information and assistance as they look for housing, educational programs, or jobs. Advocates are crucial in identifying and providing referrals to outside medical, legal, and financial services. Advocates help individuals and families navigate their way through the bureaucratic mazes that they frequently encounter, and attend meetings at schools, in court, or at other agencies and organizations when needed.
